Malicious Software

What is Malware?

Malware is a broad term that refers to any software intentionally designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to systems. It includes various types such as Virus, Worm, Ransomware, Spyware, and Rootkit.

Malware is typically delivered through attack vectors such as Phishing, Exploits, or compromised websites. It plays a central role in many cyber attacks, often serving as the primary payload after initial access is achieved.

What is Malware used for?

Malware is used to steal data, disrupt operations, establish persistence, and enable further attacks. It can be used to deploy Backdoors, create Botnets, or encrypt data in Ransomware campaigns.

Organizations defend against malware using tools such as Antivirus (AV / NGAV), EDR, and Sandbox technologies, combined with strong Patch Management and user awareness practices.
