What is Spyware?
Spyware is a type of Malware designed to secretly monitor user activity and collect sensitive information such as credentials, browsing habits, and personal data. It operates without the user's knowledge and often transmits data to attackers.
Spyware is commonly delivered through Phishing, malicious downloads, or bundled software. It is frequently used alongside Keyloggers and other surveillance tools.
What is Spyware used for?
Spyware is used for data exfiltration, surveillance, and credential theft. It enables attackers to gather intelligence that can be used for further attacks such as Business Email Compromise (BEC) or identity theft.
Defensive measures include EDR, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and strong Access Control. Encryption and Zero Trust principles also help limit data exposure.
