MITRE ATT&CK

Adversary Behavior Framework

What is MITRE ATT&CK?

MITRE ATT&CK is a globally recognized framework that documents real-world adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) based on observed cyber attacks. It provides a structured knowledge base for understanding how attackers operate across different stages of an attack.

The framework is widely used by security teams to map threats, detect attack patterns, and align defensive strategies. It complements detection approaches such as Indicators of Attack (IOA) and Indicators of Compromise (IOC).

What is MITRE ATT&CK used for?

MITRE ATT&CK is used to improve threat detection, threat hunting, and incident response capabilities. It enables organizations to identify gaps in Security Controls and strengthen their Defense in Depth strategy.

Security teams integrate ATT&CK with tools such as EDR, SIEM, and XDR to map alerts to known attacker behaviors. It also supports red teaming and penetration testing by simulating real-world attack scenarios.
