What is PacketFence?
PacketFence is an open-source Network Access Control (NAC) solution designed to manage and secure network access by enforcing authentication, authorization, and endpoint compliance policies. It supports multiple enforcement techniques, including VLAN assignment and captive portals, enabling organizations to control who and what connects to their network.
PacketFence, today a part of Akamai, is used to ensure only compliant and authorized devices gain access to corporate resources. It plays a critical role in Zero Trust strategies by validating endpoints before granting access, integrating with identity systems, and providing visibility into connected assets across enterprise environments.
