Technical controls (also known as logical controls) are security measures implemented through hardware, software, and technical processes to protect an organization’s data, systems, and networks.

These controls are designed to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats by enforcing security policies and protecting the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information (CIA Triad). technical controls include firewalls, antivirus, endpoint detection and response (EDR), Intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS), multi-factor authentication (MFA), encryption, network access control (NAC), data loss prevention (DLP) and more.
