A Data Privacy Officer (DPO) is a key role within organizations responsible for overseeing the protection of personal data and ensuring compliance with data privacy laws, such as the GDPR, CCPA and others.

The DPO’s duties include monitoring data processing activities, advising on data protection strategies, conducting privacy impact assessments, and serving as a point of contact for regulatory authorities and individuals whose data is being processed.

DPOs also works with the CISO to develop policies and practices to safeguard personal data and ensure that the organization handles it lawfully and transparently, balancing business needs with privacy rights.
