Digital Signatures are cryptographic mechanisms used to authenticate the validity and integrity of digital messages, documents, or software.

They serve as an electronic equivalent of handwritten signatures or stamped seals, providing a way to ensure that the content has not been altered after signing and that the sender is who they claim to be.

A Digital signature will provide Authentication and Non-repudiation (When a message is signed digitally, it is encrypted using the sender’s private key which proves he is the one who sent it) as well as Integrity (A digital signature ensures message hasn’t been tampered with during transmission).
