CIS Community Defense Model 2.0
What is The CIS Community Defense Model 2.0?
The CIS Community Defense Model (CDM) 2.0, developed by the Center for Internet Security (CIS), is a framework designed to help organizations mitigate the most common and impactful cyberattacks. It provides a practical, data-driven approach to cybersecurity, mapping the implementation of the CIS Critical Security Controls (CIS Controls) to specific attack types.
By analyzing how four prevalent types of cyber attacks (ransomware, web application attacks, insider threats, and phishing attacks) occur and the effectiveness of different CIS Controls in preventing them, the model helps organizations build a stronger defense posture while emphasizing cost-effective cybersecurity strategies which allows organizations to allocate resources effectively while achieving measurable risk reduction.
